The wind is blowing
with the weather grand
today we'll spend outside
flying kites and taking hikes
(I didn't know I'd grown so old);
Less time to grumble
did you know a seven
year old and tackle a mom
and then help her
with worry in his eyes;
We've even learned
I can hit a ball
and I wasn't chosen
last this game
like I was before;
Now of course
my day is more planned
for I've still dinner
work, and home to clean
but a marvelous thing has happened;
When I go outside
more with the kids
the more they help
on the inside to pick up
and help me clean;
And when dad wonders
wherefore pizza for dinner
he is overwhelmed
with Jamie's tackle
or Lynn's ability to fly a kite!
