older one (1964) "Storm"

“Storm”

cji
1964

(the ship we were on
Would go backwards
In major storms!)

As the ship bounced helplessly
the waves ever increasing in size
the winds intensity still raising
and the storm blew on.

Vision was nil
all that could give warning
was mechanical gear
and the storm blew on.

The 3rd mate on watch
seethed in anger
as the ship flounced helplessly
the wind whistling by.

The ship trembled and plunged
ever forward into the storm
meeting the challenge
the wind whistling by.

For three days and nights
like a cork with no place to go
the ship raising and falling
and the storm blew on.

Then the fourth day
all was clear
and the ship laughed back
and the storm blew on.
