"Voices" (Asian Holocaust 2)

“Voices”
(Asian Holocaust 2)

(Prelude:

Hearing the often silence
almost a stillness shouting
reminding one of the past
while yet heard in present
voices of those so abused
demeaned as being human
by others claiming superior
using war as their excuses
murdering, raping, playing
ignoring any understanding
confident never to be tried!)

(1)

(from history)

27,000,000 deaths in WW2
found in the Far East theater
this estimate is on the low side
voices again never to be heard
mortality taken from them all
of these 3.2M were Japanese
Chinese deaths 15.5M known
other Asians 8M included
allied troops/civilians 262,704
totals without voices to know
many only left in mass graves
devastation due to hatred’s lust
carried on until the very end
then biologics dropped for more
till today none know how many
voices silenced and unheard!

(2)

Forever granted without voice
as if dumb and now blinded
beyond the reach of mortality
terribly tortured and abused
silenced and lost in history
never happened as now told
immunity to the assassins then
just the glory of warfare thought
praised today and honored
not the dead but the living
ignoring atrocities committed
monuments many to visit
voices crying to be heard
no longer politically correct
it happened but it did not!

(3)

(from the enemy)

Deftly designing cross-paths
doing all to become reputable
reporting in lies and rhetoric
tortuous means to deceive
as if it never happened then
movies, photos, all just PR
allies today – enemies forced
even India agreed not us
but the US caused the war
we silenced the voices then
while we honor our atrocities!

(4)

Millions have to die for resources
is this found unusual of any evil
it is the way of the world always
men/women fight and many die
over property, thrones, power
each nation needs to survive
denied were what was needed
therefore to venture forth to live
millions had to die for resources!

(5)

There were no death marches
in war there is no surrender
those who do are worthless
slaves and treated no better
history showed in Civil War
prisons place despicable
either to the north or south
why call us barbarians still
building railroads* needed
labor was not forced found
all being readily engaged
time was of the essence
and many died but not all
this work was done quickly
in war there is no surrender
there were no death marches!
*Burma Railroad

(6)

Why so few war crimes tried
only so few most caring not
our scientists not charged
heralded for their genius
millionaires after the war
our Emperor not charged
many acquitted gone free
some foolish Generals
even some fool Admirals
and of our accusers known
most back to their own killing
some even still to this day
so few war crimes proclaims
our innocence to be shown!

(7)

(other voices)

Cymbals of conciliation
business more important
money–betrayal–ignorance
media bored with the war
time sweeping under rugs
acts of atrocities to forget
give it up this recognition
requesting a fair hearing
none care–none remember
voices seeking other things
even today ignoring truths!

(8)

Was there an Asian Holocaust
were millions abused, murdered
who committed such things
didn’t the Chinese kill their own
India did the same to theirs
same with Indo-China and others
too much conflicting testimonies
too many witnesses passed on
it seemed there was no interest
just voices as the Babel tower
confusion and contention
boredom fully setting in!

(9)

Can more be written
of course it could
each of the camps
each of the atrocities
each of the slaughters
each of many rapes
each of these untold
needing of course voice
time and effort to retrace
memories to remember
nightmares to return
worth the price to voice
each difficult to speak!

(Epilogue:

Voices of contention heard
different stories still to unfold
maybe a hidden diary found
records held by the Chinese
even those of rewritten history
too many voices conflicting
Japanese contesting all
adding in their thoughts
culture dictates memory
so much still to be spoken
how much will be the truth!)
