Meaning”

Sometime
ago words had meaning
then it
was thought why is this so
these
words could be left leaning
on a
teeter-totter going to and fro;
Without
meanings then nonsense
no laws
to be enforced or written
chaos
would reign past tense
and all
of lovers to be smitten;
Definitions
and dictionaries lost
no more
books published to be
think of
the savings and the cost
maybe
even saving one more tree;
Gibberish
and slang to be the rule
liars would
be exempted from all
being
illiterate would be very cool
no more school
rolls thus to call;
Sadly
this day has come to be real
nothing means
what was intended
playing
at the beguiling of one’s zeal
everything
of value now pretended!
