Long ago
and somewhere else
people had
better things to do
idle
time not available to rumor
and
murmuring never allowed
timber
to split cut for firewood
gardens
to plant and harvest
working on
the roof and floor
babies
to tend for and others
then by
the firelight at night
gathering
around to hear talk
of
splitting peas and planting
fearful
of storms and winds
and such
things all about!
