The watch is mine alone
searching over all the
sky
watching movement afar
knowing each landmark
my territory and family
my friends and enemies
each know I’m on watch;
Soon another takes turn
then another in time
centuries come and go
always someone here
others depending upon
we’ve taken an oath
made a covenant true;
Trusting none but each
those found obedience
God, Family, Nation
bonded one to the next
all to knowingly learn
a watch is always held
trusting none – alone!
