Needle sharp to feel
desolation of the earth
would it all be wasted
would Malachi know
roots and branches
all destroyed – lost
what a terrible cost
feeling heated lances
no longer to grow
vinegar – bile tasted
ashamed from birth
pierced unable to heal!
