“Of the Past”

Too many live outside today
Seeking excuses for delay;

Running as if by course
Into their past of course;

Finding there the maggots
Unable to burn with faggots;

Fearing ever to let go away
Thus we prefer it to stay;

Refusing to see the wonder
Or eternal things to ponder;

Rather seeking Babylon now
Believing Zion lost somehow;

Thus forgetting the Atonement
Eternal life made in covenant;

Of the past we may then live
Eternal Life the Son to give;

Choices there to be made
Into the future we’ve to wade;

Maggots can clean a wound
Into the future we’re bound!
