Defeat lingers ever near death

While so many hold their breath;

 

Unwilling to move or intervene

As a suckling child on the wean;

 

Turbulence interrupting a dream

Downward spirals in mid-stream;

 

Awakening to the realization few

Understanding death’s image to view;

 

Then rebounding resolved to live

Seeking all their resources to give;

 

To never give up with still a breath

Denying the certainty of this death!
