Starting as piece of wood

years to grow and shape

thought finished by nature

till the carpenter’s Son

came boldly with an ax

chipping away here/there

taking away my roughness

smoothing me a new

this piece of wood to hew

replacing my roughness

into something more fair

refining as if hot wax

done by a carpenter’s son

into something more pure

my inner soul to awake

this simple piece of wood!
