Not POW’s yet
prisoners
in this United States
to be
no wars being fought
of note
yet just the same
prisoners
bound in Missouri
Jails
all the warrants of
arrest
political and
religious found
thus innocent men
bound
given this
purification test
any other comparison
pales
six to ten months
prisoners
denied their rights
even to vote
in this United States
to see
not POW’s yet
prisoners;
All held without
trial or bond
some unable even to
stand
filthy food and
conditions
allowed no prayer
spoken
unable to escape or
death
jeered and taunted
daily
indeed wives
raped/killed
infant children done
the same
forcing other from
their homes
as if nothing more
than stones
all done in some
law’s name
any history has all
been stilled
mocked and abused
daily
air stifling taking
away breath
these were the
nations token
further others far
ambitions
none their freedom to
demand
our nation’s
antipathy spawned!
