Attacking from the sun
seeking utter destruction
killing and maiming
gleefully leaving ruin
yet killing not spirit
killing not the freedom
killing not the will
wherein one finds war
holocausts of flames
surprise and ambush
breath’s of war known
greed and envy shown
anticipation grown
allowing survivors
who remember all
when governments fail
men/women respond
refusing ever to lose
freedoms God given
whether at Pearl
or New York City
or Washington DC
one can kill persons
one can destroy
but never the spirit
the will of freedom
attacking from the sun!
