As a child watching
dancing flames in air
fire flies by their name
or sparks and ashes
arising from the flames;

Summer fires of fun
roasting marshmallows
in the darkest night
just an often dream
remember long ago;

Now today cities burn
people dying in riots
chaos and rebellion
freedoms to be denied
known as summer fires!
