“Rock and Pebbles*”

On the beach found
small pebbles to skip
otherwise only rock
barren and without
shelter hidden to kneel
but yet they did kneel
their voices to shout
the heaven to rock
sacred end to trip
into freedom bound!
(* when the Mayflower
landed all they found
rock and pebbles – 51
died the first winter
not counting crew
members)
