Reaching out hesitantly
worried of cold or
warmth
mind games playing
quiet
darkness surrounding
causing this concern
whether or not to touch
reaching small fingers
secure within ones love
touching mother soft
finding security warm!

In Dec 1964 I took care
of two small children
as their parents worked.
They both had to have
tonsils out - so we all
in the hospital together
reached out to touch!
