“Going on a Cruise”

Up to now big ferry boats
crossing rivers too quickly
lined with other vehicles
paying the fare of one dollar
seeing lots – eagles and such
wide expanses of the river
shorelines of history seen
imagining a canoe/sail
while now getting excited
going on a cruise aboard
into the ocean as in navy
deployed for over a year
this to have a stateroom
meals served and photos
in our 70’s a new memory
excited and wondering
what really is a cruise!
