Hi All – this is subject which most do not
understand. When I was looking for the Church of the Holy Bible I had joined
several different churches along the way so that our small family would have a
place where to go and worship. In doing this I was baptized in a number of ways
– and whenever changes churches was told any previous baptism’s were of no
avail. I knew the on in the Catholic Church was of no avail as it was done when
I was an infant and the Scriptures are quite clear on that not being necessary
or acceptable unto the Lord. Almost every one of the baptisms I remember were
done with the sprinkling of water – which was not the way John baptized the
Savior. Thus when we investigated the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints we were invited to be baptized once more. When I questioned this it was
explained to me about the restoration of proper authority to perform such
baptisms and therefore would have to baptized by immersion by one having this
Priesthood Authority as did John. Below is the Revelation when many coming into
the Restored Church asked similar questions. As have many of you of me. Common
sense and reason tell is the Holy Bible is true – then the Book of Mormon is
true as they testify of each other – then there is only one true Church upon
this earth at a time or not at all. Thus of the 4200+ religions one would
suspect there are just as many baptisms or ways to join. This would be very
chaotic to a God of Order! Thus – one Church – one Baptism – one Authority
(divinely given) – and one path to Zion. c/ork

the Church established

their own gods/idols
till
once more Father/Son

new dispensation
calling
Prophets/Apostles
with all
of the organization
of the
previous dispensation
which
ended in apostasy
(foretold
by all Apostles
Prophets
and the Savior)
thus once
more was needed
one true
Church organized
by the
Father and the Son!

The Doctrine and Covenants
Section 22
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at
Manchester, New York, April 16, 1830. This revelation was given to the Church
in consequence of some who had previously been baptized desiring to unite with
the Church without rebaptism.
1 Behold,
I say unto you that all old covenants have I caused to be done away
in this thing; and this is a new and an everlasting covenant,
even that which was from the beginning.
2 Wherefore,
although a man should be baptized an hundred times it availeth him nothing, for
you cannot enter in at the strait gate by the law of Moses, neither
by your dead works.
3 For
it is because of your dead works that I have caused this last covenant and this
church to be built up unto me, even as in days of old.
4 Wherefore,
enter ye in at the gate, as I have commanded, and seek not to
counsel your God. Amen.
