Calling
for volunteers
many
stepping backwards
while
some maybe a few
come
forward to serve*
some
very young so to be
others
aging and hoping
still
to be useful some
how
many times heard
some on
the front lines
without
weapons none
going
into the battle
caring
for the troops
others
helping others
learn
to swim or sail
first
aid, CPR, lifesaving
teaching
others to teach
speaking
at groups
going
into the schools
how
many times called
ignoring
the politics
embracing
the service
Red
Cross Volunteers
has it
only been 100years
yet
some still willing
but no
longer called
others
to step in place
calling
for volunteers!
*For those who read this
today I've
ended my years of Red
Cross
service - having started
in the
early 1950's until a
year or so
ago - swimming; sailing;
boating
first aid; CPR; and so
much more
an Area Director; Board
Member;
Speaker - but shadows
lengthen
and now for me - another
to take
my place! c/ork
