The smallest piece of
sand
rubbing eternally on
skin
irritating and
inflaming both
much as work seldom
done
causing blisters to
form
yet hardened in time
callous able to form
much as hurtful words
loosely used to
demean
at first to hurt
painfully
then to toughen one
up
all in the pursuit to
endure
allowing growth from
within
smoothing and
tempering
into more fully what
we are
as eternal children
of God!
