“Battle
of the Bulge”
cji
12/16/1944
Freezing
cold breaking morning
hearing
the rumble of tanks
Engineer
Company awakening
only a
bridge seperating them
the
war thought winding down
now in
real time and upon them
flames
lighting the dawn chaos
while 4,000
miles away in NY
another
winter storm happening
taking
a horse and sleigh
climbing
a steep road icey
carrying
mother and child
(still
unborn the child)
to top
for transportation
off to
the hospital today
December
16, 1944
born a
man child today
dimple
in the chin
grateful
for those fighting
so he
could be born free
able
to to serve his nation
hearing
distant thunder
thoughout
his life still
freezing
cold in the evening!
