Patrolling my yard my domain

checking everyone – everything

chasing squirrels is for others

mine is one of guard duty;

 

Recognizing friends and foes

barks for each different heard

one for animals another man

my day is one of guard duty;

 

Still the puppy in me to find

jumping with joy for a friend

forgetting how big I’ve become

remembering I’m on guard duty;

 

So if you’re my friend welcome

if not then you’re to beware

this is my turf and my domain

for surveillance and guard duty!
