So many years ago men died

women died also alongside

dreams and hopes passed

while new ideas were born

freedom – rights – liberties

yet so many still had to die

years would continue on

battle after battle to fight

storms to weather outside

hovels to retain the warmth

yet frozen feet and lives

what Thinkest thou, now?

Today 2012 many are to die

who will cry and saddened

selfishness is now the norm

lawlessness to the moneyed

to the powerful and lawless

mobs and gangs abounding

how far away from 1776

taking no time to reflect upon

our nation no longer America

now to be called but Mara

ingesting the bitter fruits

of selfishness and greed!

What Thinkest thou, all

will you awaken today

will you again take a sword

will you again be brave

will you again sacrifice

will you remember the past

becoming unselfishly to stand

for truly our nation struggles

needing those of long ago

but they now are gone away

for today it’s you/I to stay!
