Seeing
the canopy ahead
mountains
and streams
snakes
and spiders too
bugs of
all kinds to face
then the
traps and webs
snipers
chained to trees
trudging
ahead slowly
carefully
spreading out
scouts
silent in movement
seeing
not the canopy
or the
cloud cover there
going
root to root to tree
blazing
a trail for us
combat
weary well known!
