Remember”

Once there was a
time of peace
yet not one of us
can remember
for there are
always those at war
contending with
another or brothers
seeking more than
their fair share
perusing power
over one another
then there are
those who protect
giving their lives
so one can live
fighting tyranny
so one can be free
too often
forgotten these sacrifices
by those so
selfish to feel entitled
abused by those in
governments
used thus often
for political gain
yet may we all
remember soldiers
those who gave all
for freedom
especially for
this once free nation
now trending into
bondage today
by those claiming
to bring peace
which is never
their ultimate goal!
