Deeply laden I sorrow
somehow unexpected
a missed beat of a drum
taps playing too slow
too troubled to grow
not totaling our sum
our thoughts rejected
peeking into tomorrow;

Saddened by our sin
willing to repent but how
blocking out our past
only moments to last
light replacing dark now
troubled no longer within!
