“Quenching Flames”

Raging out of control
rolling hills and peaks
leaping rivers/streams
unbounded in distress;

Empty lands left a mess
remains but the screams
faraway one still peeks
over an unhurt knoll;

Quenching flames today
satisfying another’s need
burning hot and fast
ignoring man and rain;

Inflicting sorrow and pain
yet somehow not to last
lacking the fuel to feed
its course not to stay!
