Maybe should – maybe won’t
could do this – but then again
that looks good – yet not really
work to be done – just not yet
time is passing – not fast enough
shadows of shade – in darkness
really should care – what’s on TV
neighbors need help – tomorrow
things yet to do – they’ll wait
thus in many lives – taking bait
other things they each borrow
illusion/confusion they see
in all of its acute starkness
life seems way to tough
their forever placed as a bet
lost in helplessness freely
each day indifference to begin
maybe should – yet they don’t!
