wherever the battle went so did I

loyalty is my trademark fiercely

through the ages of time here

a pet – a friend – and a guest

doomed to die un-adopted was I

however heard a rapping noise

then a voice ‘Clementine’

here – here – here am I

so soon to the chamber to go

a reprieve granted far away

going to Colorado wherever

to be loved and loved in return

warmth and understanding

reciprocated constant always

then heard another cry aloud

Clementine – time to come home

they did everything to help me

when the call comes we obey

went and laid by the fireplace

peacefully and quietly to sleep
