Mark 12:1-12
Matthew 21:33-46
The war that began
in heaven over this issue is not yet over. The conflict continues on the
battlefield of mortality. (President Ezra Taft Benson)
Freedom of choice is a God-given eternal principle. The great plan
of liberty is the plan of the gospel. There is no coercion about it; no force,
no intimidation. A man is free to accept the gospel or reject it. He may accept
it and then refuse to live it, or he may accept it and live it fully. But God
will never force us to live the gospel. He will use persuasion through His
servants. He will call us and He will direct us and He will persuade us and
encourage us and He will bless us when we respond, but He will never force the
human mind. (See Hymns, 1985, no. 240.)
One must first have
correct doctrine to make wise decisions – and when those charged or calling
themselves to do so – teach philosophy and rhetoric they conflict others in the
making of clear choices.
“Unfruitful
Husbandmen”

Teaching
great truths commissioned
deciding
otherwise to so do today
as their
forbearers did long ago
ignoring
Scriptures and doctrines
stoning
the servants (i.e. Prophets)
even to
crucifying the Only Begotten
unfruitful
husbandmen today as then
proclaiming
philosophies as theorems
mixing
in scriptural truths now and then
all the
time knowing of their wrongs
but
unable to let go their pelf wages
embarrassed
to admit their guile
rather
to continue to crucify the Son
failing
in their ‘called’ commission
at what
great costs to followers
taking
away their freedom of choice
giving
them only false choices
teaching
great rhetoric instead!
