wondered/pondered
what is ‘happy’
about this day
we honor
sacrifice to duty
we honor
those who died
we honor
dedication fully
we honor
freedom’s kept
we honor
those now home
who yet
never came back
absent
as if missing now
coming
and going within
deep
thoughts and views
seeing
threats without
visually
living protecting
allowing
no weaknesses
we honor
those serving
we honor
those who will
we honor
our protection
we honor
our Constitution
we honor
something known
we honor
also the unknown
there is
honor shown today
this I’ve
pondered/wondered!
