Time has passed so rapidly
seems like only yesterday
there was so much stupidity
when most forgot to pray;

Seeking only what they want
ignoring what’s plain and true
leaving the full Gospel gaunt
most having not even a clue;

Each Sabbath Day at church
listening to the sermon some
coming away as a smirch
failing to heed or even plumb;

The Bible now only background
Greek philosophy foremost
literal truths no longer found
as if now an invisible ghost;
