Is it really a holy day

the Sabbath Day that is

when listening to talk

no work on the Sabbath

no interruptions either

a day of rest to reflect

yes for a day of sports

NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL

lest we forget NASCAR

stadiums filled overflowing

televisions all tuned in

millions entrapped in awe

lest we forget the world

soccer, rugby, cricket

golf, sailing, bowling, tennis

so much to partake

so little time to enjoy

new movies – oh so much

yet it is such a holy day

not for Heavenly Father

or his Son’s sacrifice

new god’s and images

new heroes like the Greek

new arenas like Romans

forgetting the reason

the Sabbath Day lauded

as in the old days now

so much to do

so little time to do

so many choices

on this Holy Day!
