Temptations all about
burning light and sound
discordant and beguiling
dancing bears and pups
football and baseball
soccer and basketball
some golf and hockey
lining up for tee times
early before sunlight
not waiting for midnight
seemingly endless lines
all the trails found rocky
hearing sirens call
great people to fall
to deeply in their cups
just once all smiling
now in chains bound
indifference to shout;
Keep it Holy now lost
regardless of the cost
or of being tossed
a Sabbath day to accost;
Soon a December frost
too late to Father know
no longer able to grow
too many paths crossed;
While some feel peace
happiness in a hymn
whispering a prayer
understanding eternal
living the Sabbath day
a proper course to stay
obedience so natural
able quietly to share
beliefs hardy not slim
religion to live not lease!
