Drums slowly rolling heard

velvet covers over the heads

muffling the sound made

measured beats marching

horses moving as prescribed

flags lowered to half mast

bugles in double taps

too often to occur today

yet history remembers too

man’s greed for another’s

ignoring common sense

in non-obedience today!
