Hurricane
force winds experienced
torrential
rains and freezing ice
tornadoes
and down drafts felt
trailing
alone in the winter storm
no
warmth anywhere to embrace
cold
stares and violent voices
rejected
for once have served
understanding
ungratefulness
how many
will survive to serve
a nation
needed all to comply
for
strength found within a heart
freedom
a thought to preserve!
